Topic: UFC 22 - Frank Shamrock vs Tito Ortiz

This had to be the best fight ever to happen in UFC history in my opinion! Also you get to see Tito Ortiz get OWNED by a Shamrock.

Thanks for that post.  I hadn't seen that fight before.  That was a sick elbow he landed before he walked away when the ref stepped in to wave it off.

Re: UFC 22 - Frank Shamrock vs Tito Ortiz

Frank is getting a bit older. 34 years old. Then again, look at Chuck Liddell, 36 and still in his prime. I don't think saying Frank has about 4-5 years left in his prime tank. Plus, he destroyed Cesaer Gracie in about 20 seconds.
Frank and Tito had a war. But towards the end, Frank dismantled him. I just wish Dana White and Frank Shamrock make peace, I want to see Frank Shamrock fight in the UFC once more.

Re: UFC 22 - Frank Shamrock vs Tito Ortiz

That was a great fight and I remember watching it live.  I had Tito Ortiz winning until the 4th round.  He just simply gased and had nothing left in the tank.  If you don't have anything left in the tank against a person like Frank, you are going to pay.

After this fight is when Tito really started seeing that cardio was the most important thing when inside the octagon.  You always hear him stress this on anything he does.  I think Frank only made him better.

Frank definately is an awesome fighter.  I cannot wait to see IF they bring him back where he would sit with the competition now.

Re: UFC 22 - Frank Shamrock vs Tito Ortiz

I only just saw this fight the other day.

I just bought UFC 21 and 22 DVD on ebay for a good price.

definatly worth it.

So... you know how when you're walking by a group of people, and you hear them laughing, you sometimes get that paranod, self- conscious feeling that maybe they're laughing about you, when they're really not? Well in your case, they really are.

Re: UFC 22 - Frank Shamrock vs Tito Ortiz

lol in a sense.. frank shamrock is responsible for the ass kickings that ken shamrock took. Now before you frown and wonder "Wtf is phenom talking about".. its the fact that he beat down tito so bad when tito gassed that Tito finally realized that cardio is his top priority. He came back with top conditioned cardio, and a much meaner game. He then introduced that game and his elbow to ken shamrocks face. Therefore Ken shamrocks pillsbury face can be accredited to his adopted younger brother, Frankie shamrock.

Not what happened at all.  I dont think Frank has lost in ten years or something...lol

Frank and Dana White hate each other and Dana stated that Frank Shamrock would never be back in the UFC as long as he was president.

I dunno what exactly happened, other than the stuff I've seen on these boards - Frank thinks that Dana is focusing too much on the entertainment aspect of UFC, he underpays the fighters.

I'm pretty sure White said something similar about Tito a while back, that Tito would never fight in the UFC as long as he was president, and we know how that turned out.

Bottom line is that Dana is a businessman, and I think that if there is demand for Frank to come back to the UFC, the only one who would prevent it is Frank.

Re: UFC 22 - Frank Shamrock vs Tito Ortiz

from what i just read about Frank Shamrock on a Bio heres the real reason he retired

"Shamrock felt he had achieved all he could achieve at that time. He relinquished his title and retired from the UFC"

if u read past that u can clearly tell that Shamrock knew that if Tito's conditioning was better Tito would've walked away with middleweight championship and because shamrock knew this to avoid damaging his win streak he retired thus making scared of Tito Ortiz

Frank retired because he was a 5x Middleweight Champion, and there was nothing left in the UFC to challenge him, so he went to fight better fighters in different organizations.
Frank never retired from MMA, just the UFC.
He will fight Ortiz one day again, and he will prove to all the Ortiz fans that the only reason Ortiz lost was not because he was not well-conditioned. He says he wants to fight ortiz, why the hell would be scared of Ortiz? Ortiz does not scare anyone lol.
Tito is not a better fighter than Frank, and especially not now.
Ortiz is a wrestler and he does ground and pound.
He can't strike with Frank, that's obvious. When it comes muscles I'd give Ortiz the advantage, but he is not much stronger. That' just mass, though. Frank has better circuit training and he eats better judging from his diet (tito drinks supplements for example xyience) thus giving him more strength. Frank can grapple better, and he is a submission specialist.
Tito is not versatile and frank is extremely so.

i knew i'd get a rise out of u for Shamrock bashing lol Tito is also a very good at submission's although u wouldnt see it from how he wins most his fights but Tito is 4-1 in Abu Dhabi submission competition and his one loss is a controversial one me and u both agree on Tito having the strenght advantage and your right Frank does have the better standup but Tito's standup is very underrated and i would also go as far as to say that Tito's conditioning is better then Franks i'll even take it a step further and say Tito has the best conditioning in the UFC and he comes out to songs by Eminem that automatically makes u a better fighter lol

Re: UFC 22 - Frank Shamrock vs Tito Ortiz

Well, currently in the UFC, IMO, the fighters with best conditioning are:
1) Georges St.Pierre
2) Tito Ortiz

I've seen Tito's training on All-Access, and I know how Frank trains, and from what I know, currently I still believe Frank has better conditioning. Tito is a good grappler, you're right, he went to Abu-Dhabi but he is not as versatile in the octagon as Frank is. I believe, Frank is also quicker, i think, from what I see in their fights.
I'm a shamrock fan so it's understandable that I watch a lot of Ortiz fights tongue
Frank's submissions are better than Tito's, still though, without a doubt.
You know, I hope you agree, that if they fought again it would be a war.
People know Ortiz has gotten better, but Frank has gotten better too, and he has no ring rust, as shown from his last fight when he KOd Caeser gracie in 20 something seconds.

Yeah island i agree, hes probably not 100% prepared for a fight against Tito though.  He would have to have a few more build up fights to really be ready as Tito has had.  I don't think you can really say the Gracie fight was tought competition for him, even Caeser will admit that.

Re: UFC 22 - Frank Shamrock vs Tito Ortiz

Well, since he might fight Sakuraba, that should be a good match to get him ready. Also, he could fight Dan Henderson, that would be VERY interesting.
I hope Ortiz signs with PRIDE for a 3 fight contract, so we could see Ortiz and Frank Shamrock get at it again.

yes i agree that Franks submissions are better but Tito is good at them to and yes u are right that it would be a all out war if they ever fight again but i gotta go with Tito and i say that because Tito has been active...Frank may not have very much ring rust but he would have fight tougher opponents other then Caeser Gracie to really prove that he is at his old form
