Topic: Carwin has waited 11 years to get his hands on Lesnar
Shane Carwin has been waiting a long time for his shot at Brock Lesnar. He was scheduled to face the UFC heavyweight champ at UFC 106 but the fight was canceled when Lesnar came down with a severe stomach ailment. Carwin had little issue with waiting for Lesnar. He called the fight his destiny and told the media he's wanted Lesnar since 1999 when they were both collegiate wrestlers.
Lesnar, a Minnesota Golden Gopher, was the NCAA Div. I champ in 2000 and the 1999 runner-up while Carwin won the Div. II title at Western State in 1999. The heavyweights never got to lock horns on the wrestling mat.
"Here we are 10 years later and we finally get to meet on a much bigger stage. The best stage in the world," said Carwin.
Carwin sent a message last night at UFC 111. He disposed of former UFC heavyweight champ Frank Mir in less than four minutes. He was like a machine with a solid gameplan that included getting Mir to the cage, using his power and then bringing the pain.
"When I go in there, I go in there to destroy guys. I don't look to eek out victories," said Carwin.
Carwin, a gentle giant outside the cage, said he felt some pressure before the biggest fight of his career.
"I was definitely a little more nervous this time than I normally tend to be. It could've been the year off,"

Well now he's getting his chance to be in a coma for the next 11.

Well, seeing where Im from (you somes of bitches) you know who Im pullin for.... wait a minute I didn't mean pullin... you assclowns and your damn extra gay monikers! So when the hell do I get to not be a MMAnus-hole? Thats right I said the unsayable! I want a new extra gay moniker! Now, back on subject. I like both of em but the reality of it is Shane is just a knock off of Lesnar. Every one and their grandma knows that.

Re: Carwin has waited 11 years to get his hands on Lesnar
Carwin is a purple belt under a guy who got owned by a dominant wrestler. Also when has Carwin ever shown a hint of BJJ in his matches? The answer, none since stepping into the big show. His jits isn't getting him any where, its all Shanes heavy hands. Trust me if, and thats a giant fuckin if, but if Shane wins it will have nothing to do with is jits.

Well he hasn't had to!
I'm thinking this is going to come into play with Lesnar. They're the same size, so Shane COULD wind up on the bottom. I could see him sweeping, or using bjj transitions to hold side-control or mount.
Who's he got his purple belt under? I don't even know!

Lesnar is one-dimensional. He depends on his strong wrestling, and the fact that he's swinging fists the size of Honda engines.
So what? He's going to hold you down and beat on your face. What are you going to do about it? P4P he's nowhere near the list because he's so one dimensional, but at the end of the day he's got the belt because he knows his strengths and uses them.

Oh and that wrestling didn't work so well against another wrestler, who was giving up about 50lbs.
Yes it did. Couture got ragdolled more than once, I've posted the gifs in other threads more than once as well because for whatever reason people tend have a revisionist view of that fight. Couture didn't just get caught and he wasn't even close to winning. He got beaten up for a round and a half and then got finished. It wasn't just wrestling either, Lesnar out struck Couture using elbows and knees as well.
Lesnar will beat Carwin and retain the belt, IMO.

Re: Carwin has waited 11 years to get his hands on Lesnar
Carwin vs Lesnar is awesome because we should see situations that each fighter will be facing for the first time..
Lesnar has never faced a striker anywhere near Carwins caliber, a KO could happen at any moment.
Carwin hasnt faced anyone with Brocks size and wrestling background. Both these guys are beast wrestlers. Carwin on his back is something new. I dont think hed be able to escape so easily like he did Gabe.
Re: Carwin has waited 11 years to get his hands on Lesnar
I'm just saying, Lesnar's size and strength are null and void in this situation because Carwin is just as big and strong. The wrestling wont play as big a deal because Carwin is a dominant wrestler. Shane is not someone Brock can toss around AT ALL. This means the fight will be determined by striking ability or submission ability.

Real talk!! I never understand people claiming that Couture out wrestled Lesnar. Brock was never under any real pressure in that fight. Lesnar is bigger and faster than Carwin. I know that UFC try to make out that Carwin is bigger (remember that 6ft5 stat before the Mir fight??) but No heavyweight is as big as Brock.
I see the Albino Gorilla winning this.
(Just to clarify, the albino Gorilla I am referring to is Lesnar. As they both resemble Albino Gorillas, I didn't want to cause any confusion).
