Topic: My Fanboy Story of the Year

So most of you know what a Rich Franklin nuthugger I am. This weekend there was a car show in Boston where Rich was making an appearance to sign autographs. Unfortunately for me, I had to work today (the day he was there) and couldn't get coverage. Came really close to calling out, but my stupid conscience got the better of me so I went in anyway.

An employee of mine is also an MMA nut so I gave her the day off instead and grabbed a copy of UFC 99 for him to sign. If I can't be there that's the next best thing right? So I thought...

She called while I was at work today, I picked up figuring she was going to tell me how it went. She tells me to hang on, someone wants to talk to me. No way. I hear "Hey Vinnie this is Rich Franklin." I have an omg moment like I'm a teenage girl meeting Justin Timberlake but manage to have a conversation with him without sounding like a complete dumbass. I shit you not, I was giddy.

Apparently he thought it was pretty cool that I gave her the day off to go, even though I couldn't and decided he should call me. And then, once I got my DVD back there was something else written on the inside cover

Dude that is fucking awesome!! I know I wouldn't be able to keep it together if I met my favourite fighters, and most likely I would end up looking like a dumbass. 

Great story!  Rich sounds like a really cool guy.

One thing I would ask him is, how come is always has a black eye going into his fights?

Nothing crazy. He said his next fight is definitely against Couture and will be either in Germany or Boston. I guess Randy speaks German and since Ace headlined the last Germany card that would work out. But he really wants the Boston venue; he's been training with DellaGrotte and flew Gurgel here to work his jits too.

The funny thing is I passed her up for a promotion 2 weeks ago. If the signing happened before that...
