Former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez (27-8) has been added to YAMMA Pit Fighting's eight-man heavyweight tournament, and two-time UFC tournament winner Mark Kerr (15-6) will fight in a "Masters Superfight" YAMMA bout vs. Oleg Taktarov (15-5-2).

The news was released today by YAMMA Pit Fighting. Additionally, the organization confirmed details of its new fighting surface.

According to lead designer Scott Nagel, "the Yamma" will feature a pit surface in which the edges of the ring are sloped. If a fighter pushes his opponent to the edges of the pit, the opponent actually gets a height advantage because of the incline.

i think kerr vs Oleg will make for an exciting fight. Oleg was one of my favorite originals from the UFC back in the day.

There might be some issues with adding Kerr.

The NJACB also informed this site yesterday that in spite of YAMMA’s public announcement, a match between Oleg Taktarov and Mark Kerr that is being advertised by the promotion has not been approved. Kerr is still under suspension in the state of Connecticut and will not be approved until he’s been reinstated.

The statement came from the New Jersey commission.

Edit: Some commissions are prone to sticking together, they respect each other's decisions and require compliance across the board.

Kerr got cleared:

an official with the NJSACB that Kerr has been taken off of his suspenison in the state of Connecticut and will be cleared to fight Oleg Taktarov at this weekend’s YAMMA Pit Fighting event, assuming he passes all necessary medical exams.
